September 21 - 24, 2017 - Autumnal Equinox!
Come backpack for 4 days in the magnificent terrain of Grand Gulch/Cedar Mesa in Southeastern Utah. This area is extremely rich in Anasazi ruins. View utah.com/grand-gulch for more information. This is a fundraiser for The Great Old Broads for Wilderness, a wonderful wilderness protection organization. Check them out at greatoldbroads.org. Their mission statement is:
Great Old Broads for Wilderness is a national grassroots organization, led by elders, that engages and inspires activism to preserve and protect wilderness and wild lands. Conceived by older women who love wilderness, Broads gives voice to the millions of Americans who want to protect their public lands as Wilderness for this and future generations. We bring knowledge, commitment, and humor to the movement to protect our last wild places on earth.
I have no doubt this will be a lively and joyful trip. We will be hiking at a leisurely pace, allowing for side trips in the canyons and plenty of time to enjoy the place. Fall features great weather in this area. I provide dinners, you bring simple breakfast and lunch items. We will meet at the trailhead at the Kane Gulch Ranger Station, which is easily accessible. EVERYONE is WELCOME! Women, men, young, old, and in between. I honor the elder women that created and enliven the Broads and invite everyone to help support their powerful and much needed work in the world.
Please contact me via this site for more information and to register for the trip. Cost is $1350 with 20% going to support the Great Old Broads for Wilderness. Just bring your gear, simple trail food, curiosity, and a spirit of adventure!
